Two cool things about our synagogue

We've belonged to our synagogue since we moved here four and a half years ago but we've gotten more involved as the kids have begun participating in Sunday school and whatnot.

Two things that make our synagogue awesome:

1) Steven Spielberg went to Yom Kippur services there this past Saturday (he's in town with Daniel Day Lewis and their posse filming Lincoln). Unfortunately, he went to the regular ol' adult service and we went to the kid-friendly service two hours earlier. Dang these kids of ours!!!!

Though we can't really complain about missing him when...

2) The synagogue does things like this during the children's service:

That'd be unrolling a torah and letting a bajillion little children put their grubby hands all over it:-)

The entire thing practically feels like an act of God... this many kids in a room with a scroll and not so much as a paper cut or a rip!

The rabbi says the trick is just getting the parents to relax:-)

Lest you think I didn't photograph my dear boy, I should admit Gabriel opted out of torah-handling this year. He wanted nothing to do with the high stakes:-) Good that he knows his limits!

BTW, sort of in love with the Instagram app. Don't know why it took me so long to find it.
