We checked out the VMFA's Mummy exhibit this afternoon, which turned out to be a terrific way to spend Martin Luther King Day.
While we were there, we wondered on over to this Alfred Wertheimer photography exhibit, "Elvis at 21." The photographs were beautiful... all of these big, black and white shots of Elvis just before he became really, really big.
It struck me, walking through the exhibit and answering questions of Gabriel's like, "Who was Elvis?" and "What did he sing?" that this isn't what it was like for me...
I learned about Elvis from my father. My kids are learning about Elvis in a museum.
What will museums be teaching my grandchildren about the way we live now?
